The Schoolhouse is a late 18th Century building, purpose built for the education of local children by the first generation of Marriotts to live at Cotesbach.  There are plans afoot to restore it to educational use as a Study Centre for Environment, Heritage and Art, which will also provide a great additional resource for the village and all who visit Cotesbach.  Funds are going to be raised to help launch this project at the Cotesbach Quattrocentenary on 07.07.07.  To date the Cotesbach Educational Trust has been set up and will shortly be applying for charitable status. Our objects are :

  1. To provide a rural meeting place and research centre for use by educational and charitable organisations, and by individuals and groups in the local community.
  2. To advance education and awareness in the subjects of environment, heritage and art and the many areas which link these three subjects, especially where such education promotes knowledge, skills and understanding needed for a non-oil dependent, sustainable future.
  3. To protect and preserve the diversity of our landscape, past, present and future, and the unique character of our historic buildings and their contents as an educational resource for the future.
