THE QUATTROCENTENARY WALKClick here TO DOWNLOAD WALKERS REGISTRATION AND ADVANCE TICKET APPLICATION Why not join in one of the three walks we are organising to converge on Cotesbach at noon on 07.07.07? Walk here, from the three surrounding counties like the peasants did in 1607, in symbolic reenactment, to commemorate them and to show you care about climate change, sustainability and cutting carbon emissions ... you will get a special welcome and a free souvenir of the event if you can show you have completed one of the walks. If you want to join walks 1 or 2 in any of the villages on the way, that's fine too, as long as you get to Cotesbach with a Registration card stamped at the check point you started at. All checkpoints will be manned and light refreshments will be available. Your walker's registration fee of £4 advance/£5 on the day also gives you admission to the whole day's festival of events in Cotesbach. Listen out for the Church Bells ringing in the villages, a traditional sign of assembly and our sign on 777 of enduring links between Church, community, environment and our rural heritage. We hope many will want to come in 17th Century style dress –here's a link to a site which will help you decide what to wear.. http://www.history.uk.com/clothing/index.php?archive=7 .and we'll be adding more useful information shortly, plus people to contact should you want your costume made for you (eg. Sally Green)(but if you're planning to walk 12km please be sensible about foot gear!). And bring tools if you can, just as the folks did in 1607 – but instead of using them to pull out hedges, we’ll be donating good garden tools to local gardening projects through OFfA and BTCV and broken ones will be recycled as part of a commemorative sculpture by local artist, Worzel. N.B. If you're not sure whether you can carry a 7ft scythe and manage two grumbling children, your 17th Century clothes, a picnic bag and the heat of a summer's day, we are collecting tools in advance at The Garden Barn, Cotesbach, in case it's more convenient WE'LL SEE YOU THERE, AND PLEASE REMEMBER TO REGISTER IN ADVANCE IF YOU CAN (this will help us cater for the required number of souvenirs, otherwise you'll have to rely on our guesswork)!
